STEM Coordinator/Math TeacherThe Neighborhood Academy is seeking a full time STEM Coordinator / Math Teacher. Primary Purpose:Collaborate with math and science faculty, grades 6-12, to develop and integrate STEM related projects into the existing curriculum. Responsible for both STEM project co-development and assisting in direct classroom implementation.Teach 1-2 math courses in our 6-12 program. Specific course assignments will depend on student enrollment and candidates subject area knowledge.Specific math course assignments and credit loads will vary year to year depending on enrollment. However, the STEM Coordinator aspect will compromise a minimum of 50% of teaching credit hours per week.While the position will require teaching 1-2 math courses per year, candidates from any STEM related discipline are encouraged to apply, regardless of prior math teaching experience.Nature and Scope:Meet regularly with math and science faculty in order to help teachers develop and implement a minimum of 1 STEM focused project/activity, per teacher, per term.Provide instructional support to teachers as necessary to implement STEM projects. Coordinator may push-in to classrooms, pull-out small groups, or co-teach with math and science faculty as needed.Act as a resource to help teachers identify and vet project ideas.Supervise a STEM focused after-school activity for at least one season each school year as part of our extended day programming.Coordinate the schools STEM Fair, including (but not limited to): assisting teachers in planning and development of student research projects and coordinating logistics of the event and awards ceremony.Partner with interested community and industry organizations in order to provide extra-curricular opportunities for students.Manage and maintain the schools STEM space, including (but not limited to): maintaining and acquiring equipment using a provided budget and ensuring safety of students who use the equipment.Provide classroom instruction, including (but not limited to): integrate a variety of teaching methods including lecture, demonstration, audiovisual aids, individual practice and other materials; prepare course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and school standards.Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals; provide feedback to students/parents and documentation consistent with school policies.Meet with parents to discuss student progress, performance and other issues.Manage classroom and school behavior and attendance for a safe and optimal learning environment, to include monitoring of student behavior at meals, during class transitions and outside of the school building.Serve as a proctor and monitor after school study hours one day per week, in accordance with the established rotational schedule.Serve as an Advisor for a set group of students to include (but not limited to): counsel students with adjustment and academic problems; and assist with mastering executive functioning skills.Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.Attend non-denominational daily worship.Perform other duties as assigned and outlined in the auxiliary description of faculty positions.Minimum Requirements:Candidate must possess at least the following:Bachelors Degree in Education, Math, Science, or any related field.Prior middle or high school teaching experience (student teaching as part of a certificate or degree program is acceptable).An active PA public or private teaching license in mathematics, science or any related field, or the ability and willingness to acquire one in the future.
