Part-time and/or Substitute Instructors

Penn College is currently seeking adjunct instructors for the following disciplines:

Construction Management
Metallurgy/Materials Science

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in the Metallurgy/Materials Science area.

Abilities and Skills:

*Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, and the public. (Minimum)

*Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
*Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)
*Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. (Minimum)
*Computer literacy in specialty area. (Desired)

Education:

*Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Science or related discipline. (Minimum)
*Master's Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or related discipline. (Desired)
*Coursework in or experience using computers in instruction. (Desired)

Experience:

*Relevant teaching experience on secondary (high school) or postsecondary school level. (Desired)
*Three (3) years of industrial experience in metallurgy/materials science. (Minimum)
*Five (5) years of industrial experience in metallurgy/materials science. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties:

*Instruct and evaluate students in metallurgy/material science courses. (Essential)
*Maintain accurate written records of student performance. (Essential)
*Assume responsibility for laboratory coordination and maintenance. (essential)
*Maintain communications with School administrators as appropriate. (Essential)
*Notify department chair of the need for supplies, materials, tools, equipment, or maintenance as appropriate. (Essential)
*Maintain official student rosters online and enter student final grades into the college computer record system. (Essential)
*Maintain office hours according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
*Attend department meetings as requested. (Essential)

Special Job Features:

*Candidates for teaching positions must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) - English Fluency in Higher Education Act. (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76)
*Candidates for teaching positions must present a sample lesson.
*Background check will be required on selected candidate.
*Hours may include day, evening, and/or weekends to meet the needs of the academic program

-Employees who provide student instruction will develop and maintain proficiency in the effective pedagogical use of current and future instructional technologies, including but not limited to learning management systems, media, instructional software, and connectivity devices. As such, are required to use the following elements of the Learning Management System ( LMS ): Upload all syllabi, timely use of the grade feature, and collection of digital student work and distribution of digital course materials.
