The Company
As the largest book store in Sydney, our client is home to over 300,000 books and magazine titles in English, Japanese, Chinese, French and German. Renowned as a leading international book retailer, this unique bookstore also offers a in-store Art Gallery in which new exhibitions are shown every two weeks. Priding themselves on their friendly informative staff and the relaxing atmosphere, our client is currently seeking an experienced Store Manager to join their reputable store

The Position
As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for all Department Managers across 4 divisions which comprise of approximately 80 staff members.

Accountable for the general day to day running of the store, you will also be responsible for:

• Liaising with the in-house events Co-ordinator guaranteeing the smooth running of in-store events and promotions
• Encouraging fellow staff members to comply with company policies, procedures and all other relevant legislations.
• Attending to continual education & training, you will promote the importance of company missions and values.
• Representing the company during ceremonies, to media outlets & conferences, you may be required to speak in public so it is imperative that you are able to communicate efficiently & effectively.

Essential Requirements

• At least 5 years Store Management experience within a Book Store
• Experience Negotiating with book suppliers and distributors (ensuring the store receives adequate stock)
• Ability to appropriately negotiate Supplier Terms
• Capable of speaking with Media outlets on behalf of the company where necessary
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Exceptional communication & interpersonal skills
• Extensive book knowledge
• Ability to work autonomously & as part of a team
