My client requires an experienced librarian to provide a full range of library services to internal staff based in their CBD location. Working in their large library, the subject strengths of the collection include taxation, law, business, finance & accounting.
The occupant of this position is required to provide a range of library duties as part of a small team, including:
- staff the library service desk, responding to general enquiries, requests for help with library equipment, & providing circulation functions.
- provide less complex document delivery & interlibrary loan requests
- maintain the physical library collection, including shelving, shelf reading & tidying, filing, processing new items, weeding, stocktake & other tasks of a technical nature.
- assist with the administration & maintenance of e-library information products & LIS alerting services
To be considered for this position you will have the following skills & experience:
- a minimum of 2 years experience in a library/information service environment is essential
- knowledge of library practices & procedures, including the use of bibliographic databases
- ability to provide reference services to clients
- an understanding of interlibrary loan & document delivery procedures
- familiarity with the application of Web 2.0 technologies in a library/information service environment
- eligibility for Technician level membership of the Australian Library & Information Association is highly desirable.
The occupant of this position will be required to spend a large part of their time on PC-based tasks & will be required to lift material weighing up to 4.5 kilos, unpack library material, push trolleys & shelve & retrieve material from the library collection.
